Lyria looked down over the town fluffing up her soft coat against the small spring breeze. 'Home, what is this thing?' Shaking her head she sat, pink antenna twitching slightly was she thought. "It's a place were you live with people who love you, it's such a wonderful thing~", the words of her lost friend echoed in her mind. He'd found himself a 'home' as he called it. Lyria considered it a cage, something she'd not want to get tangled up in as he had. Closing her eyes quietly she tilted her head up to the moon looking for guidance. Lyria was not one to be taken in with talk of spirits but she felt a bit of warmth and comfort in the soft milky glow it cast over her, allowing the antenna upon her head to glow. Slowly opening her two tone, purple and orange colored eyes, Lyria gasped as a shooting star slid seemlessly across the sky. "I wish I knew what it was like to be, 'home'..." For a moment Lyria was shocked, she'd never thought those words would slip from her lips, though she was intrigued about the sensations her friend had described to her that the notion would not leave her mind. "Perhaps... Perhaps I could find a home, one where I could fit in and leave if I chose to." Nodding to herself Lyria, stood shaking the grass out of her plush fur and started down the mountain cliff back to the cave she lived in.
Once upon a time she'd called this place home but compared to what she'd heard the dark cold place she lived didn't compare. Grabbing a few of the things she had found on the outskirts of towns, little glittery things that had caught her eye, anything from what humans called pennies, to lost jewels that they'd accidently left behind. Picking through them she slid a small pendant around her neck using the antenna and picked up a coin purse that had a broken clasp that she'd begun to use to store nuts and berries to eat. Gripping it firmly in her mouth Lyria turned her back on the cave and ventured out for what she hoped would be the last time. Quietly padding through the brush and foliage, flattening her ears slightly as she walked around a new unfamiliar part of the forest in which she lived. The trees grew taller here as well as bushes that seemed to be thicker then the small berry bushes around her cave. "I must be closer to the big creatures." Pausing as something rustled in the bush behind her, Lyria froze glancing around nervously. Yelping startledly as a mouse scurried out from under the bush, Lyria darted further head stumbling over roots and fallen branches, skidding a bit over a few scattered leaves and flattened herself against the ground panting. Waiting a few minutes to find she wasn't being chased, Lyria sat up looking around her finding herself by a large lake that had settled itself in the middle of a formidable sized clearing.  Smiling to herself Lyria headed over lapping a bit up to help herself relax.
Peering up as something started to glow above her, Lyria gasped in awe of the beautiful butterfly, following it as it fluttered to a bush. Watching it curiously she reached out an antenna smiling as it crawled on twitching its wings. "Hello there~" Lyria always loved being in touch with those around her, and was always kind to the smaller creatures that roamed around. She usually took on a motherly approach to those who were young or injured. Frowning slightly as it fluttered towards the trees, Lyria quickly followed. "W-wait! Where are you going?" She called trotting after it for two reasons, one she wanted to keep this lovely addition to the forest safe and two curiosity was getting the best of her.
After a good fifteen minutes of walking Lyria's curiosity grew driving her tired body forward to follow this thing. It was almost acting as a guide, stopping when Lyria paused to catch her breath and never flying out of the small creatures sight. Breaking through the trees Lyria found herself in a large clearing with a strange cave that seemed to be made of wood with glowing patches. Hesitating when she spotted a two legged large creature emerge Lyria watched the butterfly head over worriedly. "Please small one stay away from it, it could hurt you!" She called quickly moving over to it as it fluttered over to the creature landing on its hand.
"Why hello there~" The tall thing spoke, its voice was soothing and warm, this confused Lyria. Any other she'd come across was loud and angry with harsh sounds and tools, but this one was different. Shrinking back as it noticed her Lyria whined scaredly. "Hush now it's alright, I'm Marianna, it's nice to meet you." This, Marianna crouched and held out a hand smiling warmly as it waited for Lyria to approach it in her own time. Watching it nervously the timid creature inched forward reaching out and tapped its hand with an antenna yanking it back in fear. Looking up Lyria found Marianna still smiling as it let out an odd almost purr like sound. Tilting her head to the side Lyria moved a bit closer testing the hand with one of her paws leaving it there curiously. Mar's smile grew as it reached out slowly and ran its hand down her back. Flinching back Lyria was surprised to find the touch gentle and kind, as she let out a very low and soft purr. Standing and shaking out her fur Lyria walked over climbing into the creature's lap and curled up finding a feeling of safety and security surrounding her as she cuddled close. Relaxing under the gently pets Lyria finally decided. "If this is a home, it's where I'm meant to be~"
My entry for a contest to win [link] <- this amazing cutie for my OC Marianna, Mar for short. Considering Mar works with creatures for a living I think they'd get along well. Hope you like it :iconjaclynonacloud:~
